OVERVIEW

This Certified Erosion & Sediment Control Lead certification training is a two (2) day course that will include one full day of instruction and one full day in the field getting hands-on training. Upon successful completion of this two (2) day CESCL course, attendees will be a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) recognized by Washington State Department of Ecology. Students will receive a certificate and training ID card. Certification is good for 3 years.

Day 1: Classroom Instruction – Currently Online (for both Full Certification and Re-Certification)
Students will receive eight (8) hours of instruction on erosion and sediment control management, storm-water plan modifications (SWPPP) and Ecology permit requirements for construction projects.

Day 2: Hands-On Training (for Full Certification Only) – Currently Online
Students will meet in the field to apply principles learned in day 1 with hands-on jobsite experience.

  • The erosion control process
  • DOE approved Source Control Best Management Practices (BMPs)
  • Project Scheduling, Contract considerations & Permit compliance
  • Correct measure to manage erosion & sediment, infiltration and dispersal methods
  • Spill prevention planning
  • Administrative record keeping
  • Practical application of erosion and sediment control BMPs, inspection and review
  • Storm-water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) planning & development
  • Storm-water discharge monitoring and reporting
  • Regulations, compliance, responsibility and liability
